ABSOLUTELY! I've had an iMac 27" since 2010 as well as MacBook Pros and MacBook Airs. I use my iMac every day for all of my work and personal tasks. The 27" display spoils you because you can have multiple docs open at the same time. It is also unbelievable as a video display for pictures, videos, and movies.

Buy it you'll love it.

I use this iMac to run my small business. I use 4 virtual screens, running with many different open programs, accounting, contact database, 2 email Programs,, etc. I have no problems with load on computer. I do not do graphic heavy work like movie editing etc, so I can’t speak to that. Not sure what you mean by ‘possibly doing art‘ which could mean heavy graphic demand or maybe not. I love the iMac and if needed, more ram could be added later, I did this myself to a second iMac we use and it greatly sped up the computer.

It is more than adequate for everyday use. It is fantastic for graphic design and photography. You won't be disappointed. I bought my daughter this very same computer because she's into photography.
