“I’ve been seeing in forums sometimes these headphones may stay on and drain the phone battery. Is this right? Is there a way to disconnect after use?”

I haven't experienced this, if this is an issue I would contact Apple Support.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.They only can stay on if you don’t put them back in its case. If you put in pocket, purse, car or counter they could potentially stay on and drain battery.
