Yes, and you can get AppleCare for it. While I usually recommend not getting extended warranties, AppleCare is the exception.

Yes, they honor the original warranty. Battery life is dependent on what you’re doing. Web surfing, playing music and word document processing generally will give me around 10-14 hours of continuous use. No real way to predict what you will get.
