It depends on your needs. The key is to find a case that's designed to fit your iPad Air 3's dimensions as well as any buttons that you want to use. You can get something that's thin and offers a little scratch protection all the way up to something that dampens impact from a short drop. I chose to cover my screen with an Apple Smart Keyboard and ordered a leather case from Pad & Quill in St. Paul, MN. I plan to use my device either in my home office or at a local game shop on a large table to look up information for Dungeons & Dragons, so drop protection isn't a significant concern for me. For our 6 year-old son, we were very concerned with drop protection, so we ordered a bulky case from Amazon made of EVA (the same material that running shoe manufacturers use to make outsoles). Best Buy also carries decent cases, but we have different tastes.
