If you bought just the wifi model, you should be able to hook it up like a regular computer. As long as you have a wireless router that can send the signal to your new iPad.

I had the same question and you can use with Wifi or you can get a sim card from your provider and use cellular data. It's not mandatory that you set up for cellular. You could just buy the Wifi version and save some money if you have no plans to use with sim card.

Works on WiFi like a laptop. The cellular capability costs more and you don’t need it. If you need WiFi, just connect through your phone.
