• I was just on with Verizon customer service and I am doing it without getting a new phone. I agreed to use Verizon as the carrier for the iPad for 2 years at $10 a month added to my existing plan. I have an iPad on now and I can simply remove old and add the new one.

• Don’t need a phone to have one. IF you want to use it on Verizon then you need the SIM and will pay a $40 activation fee
