when you purchase your own phone Best Buy will ask you, who your carrier is, you tell them, and they will make sure that phone is compatible with your carrier. You bring your phone to the At&t store, Verizon, whoever your plan is with, and they will down load numbers from your old phone to the new one.... free of charge, I did it with a veriosn phone and an at&t phone.
