• Hello! I asked this too and Yes! You can do that. You’ll have to pay the full retail price of the phone and then it’s yours. It is unlocked and you can go to any carrier.

• I am on a Payment plan but it is my understanding that paying for the phone outright at least with Verizon that the phone would be unlocked. If you select the payment plan (monthly) you still can cancel service at any time but any remaining balance on the phone will need to be paid off. Hope this is what you were asking.
