“I have an iPod classic and am thinking of buying this newer iPod. Will I be able to put all my music on this new one even though it was no all purchase from iTunes or Apple?”

Yes I was able to download all my music even the ones I downloaded from CD I bought personally not through iTunes.

yes, that is exactly what my situation was but you have to make sure you change the model of ipod in your existing iTunes account that way you won't loose all your music. I did call Apple support for help w setup of this because I am NOT tech savvy at all and they were very helpful..they walked me through everything. It is a really great unit upgrade.
