Depends on your carrier. Apple has an agreement with certain carriers to restrict screen mirroring, especially when it comes to NetFlix and HBOGo. I recommend talking to the Apple specialist in the Best Buy store, that is where I learned about the limitations. Depending upon the phone's model, their is a simple code change in the setup that is required and it will allow the mirroring. The other issue to address is data speed which will affect the picture on the device you are transmitting to, and if you have a weaker signal then you are going to get a low pic quality such as 480p. Take all of these factors into consideration when using your device as a streaming device. Good Luck!!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Thank you! I appreciate that you gave details in your answer. I actually went yesterday and did exactly that. They told me no...it won't allow you to use HBOGo or anything like it to mirror to a tv. Exactly for the reason you stated. The only way it will work...is if I have a MAC...or a MAC and Apple TV. The apps won't mirror from a phone if there is no deal between the two companies because it's a phone. That answers changes if it's a MAC pc...or whatever device type it is. They really should put the information in the product description. When I bought it at Best Buy, the guy told me oh yeah...you can do that. I figured my extra HDMI cable would work...but no...so I had to go buy another HDMI with a certain shaped connector. Then fool with it for freaking ever...and learn that to meet all my expectations....I'd have to buy both the apple tv and a mac. Considering the amount of time it takes to do all that...Best Buy really need to reconsider that 15 day return period...make sure their employees all know the same information or at least know enough to say I don't know...let's go ask....and not advertise that a product can do something....that it cannot...or at least cannot unless you buy multiple other items. Apple should also do the same thing.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Thanks for the reply...but that answer is a little vague...and I didn't understand the garage part? Does this device allow for you to mirror HBOGo from your iPhone to your smart tv...without any problems? It's not my optimum choice for getting to see that last season of GOT, but since HBO and Dish are in a price war I'm forced to find a different way to see it... Also, does anyone know if there is a remote that will allow you to control your iPhone remotely while it's connected to the tv? And no...I don't have apple tv...or interested in it...just about a remote that can work on an iphone. Thanks.
