• Yes, this will work for your purpose, but it will require a separate lightning connector cable to charge the iPhone. The HDMI cable does not charge the phone. There are two connector sections on this item. One for standard HDMI, and another to plug your lightning cable in for charging. You then plug the Lightning connector of this item in to the bottom of your phone, and you are all set!

• It's a regular HDMI cable if you want to hook up a iPad or iPhone you need to buythe adapter for one of them.
