• Yes it does. This is an OEM product and has the functionality that allows you to hear as well as to have your caller hear you.

• This does work well with my phone. I have an Apple iPhone 7+ though. This is an Apple product and works great with my iPhone and iPad and speakers I use it with at my job.

• Yes it does and I use it all the time in my office because I have a lot of old headphones and this allows me to use them whether I listen to music or talk on the phone

• Thanks all for the input. I took the plunge and the genuine Apple adapter does, in fact, provide phone functionality. Beware of after-market products (there are many for less than half the price), not all support the phone, however, they typically disclose this in the product description IF (unlike me) you bother to read it!
