Long Answer: I work in the medical field and my girlfriend is a nurse practitioner. When we met she was a nurse and had a MacBook Air and loved it. When she became a NP she upgraded to the MacBook Pro and doesn't love it. The air being much lighter and her being a smaller human (5'4", 130) was a much better fit. I also have an iPad Pro that is actually that is almost as heavy as the MacBook Air when you add the keyboard. Short Answer: yes, it's worth it. Most Macbooks last at least 5-7 years and have great functionality for the price.
