Is this a new laptop? null

Released in mid 2017. Cannot get much newer, and for Apple the current MacBook Pros are as new as you can get.

The technology in the entry level MBP is 2017 vintage, but they MacBook Pro's are new, it's just the technology is not the newest version. You would have to move up to the MBP with Touch Bar to get the improved technology and increased ports.
