Yes, it is new. Sometimes there are "Open Box" items which are a little cheaper. A lot of times, people return an item and Best Buy checks it over and rates the condition. If you find an item listed "Excellent - Like Brand New", check it out because most likely only the box was open and it still is brand new which gives you a chance to save yourself a little bit of money.
