It will work, but it's not the correct recommended charger. This is the MagSafe 85W power adapter, you are looking for the MagSafe 45W power adapter with the L-tip. We have a 2011 MacBook Air and a mid 2012 MacBook Pro, so I have both chargers. They are interchangeable as far as charging the laptops, but Apple clearly states that you should use the correct watt charger for your laptop, as using the incorrect one could cause damage to it. Given the fact that my life is on my laptop, I prefer not to take the chance long term. I hope this helps!
