You shouldn’t have to replace the pencil, the only thing you should have to change is the tips

Please try again later.I don’t believe you need to replace the Apple Pencil, the first generation Apple Pencil was not replaced but Apple later came out with the Apple Pencil generation 2. I believe the Apple pencil generation 1 was and still is compatible with the iPads that it was designated for when it was first introduced. But for financial reasons (most likely) Apple re-introduced the second generation of the Pencil or stylus (which can be magnetically affixed to the top of IPads 2018 or later to charge).
