“I have the ipad pro 10.5 but I put it in an otter box will the pencil still work”

I'm pretty sure the new Apple Pencil requires one of the new late 2018 iPads that have no HOME button. I don't see any way to charge it without the proper iPad.

Please try again later.I’ve bought a case that did not work although it was for iPad Pro so I would make sure it doesn’t not cover the sides that the Pencil pairs to or else it will knock it off like mine did. I had to take my case off. Eventually replaced case, was a huge hassle.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No, this pencil will not work. It has different upgraded Bluetooth pairing. The old Apple Pencil will not work with the newer iPad models, and vice versa. I was disappointed with Apple for this inconvenience. I have an old Apple Pencil, and used it regularly. I just purchased the 2018 iPad Pro, and cannot use it on the newer model. So, I had to go purchase this new pencil, to be able to continue using the pencil in my daily needs.
