I currently use a stylus with a stubby mesh tip and iPad for mainly web browsing and games that require tapping - it’s fairly silent (which is good). With that said, how loud can the Apple Pencil be when simply tapping the screen? null

It can be a bit loud but that just depends on how loud your tapping. The pencil doesn’t have any mesh or rubber. It’s just the pencil material. If you’re just browsing and playing games, I would stick to other stylus pencils. I would recommend a pencil if You’re drawing or writing notes because it’s so responsive.

It will be louder than what you have but it’s not too loud to me but if you’re aggressive tapping it will be loud but to me the seamless use of this outweighs that in my opinion.

It’s more or less the same volume as a regular pencil on a sheet of paper. You hear the tap but not the scribble. It’s way more accurate and precise than one of those styluses with the round bouncy tip.

Kinda loud if you're in a quiet area :| A bit startling at first but you'll probably drown it out after lots of use
