The first apple pencil will not work on the 2018 iPad Pro. The new pencil only works on the new 2018 pros. It is flat on one side and sticks magnetically to charge.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you have the 2nd gen 12.9in iPad Pro, the pencil that you plug in to charge won’t work at all. That is a first gen pencil. The second gen pencil charges by magnetically attaching to the iPad and this is the only pencil the new iPad Pro will recognize.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you have the 3rd gen iPad Pro you will need the 2nd gen pencil. Sound like you have the first gen pencil which won’t work.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I don't have enough info to help you out there. What Apple pencil do you have? If you have the first generation, then you can plug the pencil into the lightning port of an older 12.9" iPad Pro, but not the most recent generation. If you have the 2nd generation of Apple Pencil, it will charge by magnetically attaching it to the side of the latest iPad pro, but not by plugging it in anywhere. If you don't have either of those, then you have to charge it using the instructions provided by the manufacturer.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If your new device is the 2018 iPad Pro in either size, than the prior generation's pencil will NOT work. The new version simply gets charged when attached by its magnet to the iPad Pro itself. Easy charging ... but means buying the new pencil.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The two pencils do not function interchangeably. The old pencil does not work with the 11" and 2nd Gen 12.9" iPad Pros.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Newest IPad Pros will only work with 2nd generation Apple Pencil
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you have the very latest iPAD Pro (the one without a home button) the 2nd generation pencil will attach and charge without a problem. A first generation pencil won't work as it needs to be connected and there is no place to connect it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It doesn't have an adapter to charge and only charges via ipad (wirelessly). Charges fine on latest model ipad 12.9" pro.
