- Answer Not always! I had purchased a refurbished iPhone 6s+, and ran a self battery diagnostic check on it, which showed as normal. However, it also showed “failed” on other battery wearing functions so, I decided to change it out . I did have to pay $49.99 for a new one at the local Apple Store, but runs a lot better now and is holding a very good change
