You will have to get an account and pay to get cell service. Unless you are sure any phone will work with your cellular provider, get one that is "unlocked." If a phone was originally provided by the company with cell service, it will generally not work with any other network. There is a requirement that the provider must unlock the phone if you own it, but the process can be complicated. Good Luck!
