“Does this smart keyboard magnetically hold the 10.5 inch iPad Pro in both 'landscape' orientation as shown in pictures, and 'portrait' or vertical position?”

Unfortunately no. The “smart connector” that connects the keyboard to the iPad (It doesn’t use Bluetooth) is only on a single side, limiting you to using the keyboard with the iPad in landscape mode only.

It magnetically attaches to the landscape side of the iPad. I suppose you could set it up portrait style, but you couldn't use the keyboard (the connectors are through the magnets on the landscape side) and it won't be as secure.

It doesn’t hold them in both orientations magnetically but it can be placed on the keyboard as a stand like this
