Yes, it is thunderbolt 2, but will work also as thunderbolt 1 albeit at the lower speed (10 gb for 1, 20 gb for 2).

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The female end is Thunderbolt 1 and 2. Thunderbolt 2 used the same plug as 1 with a higher data transfer rate. Also of note, the adapter is bidirectional or ‘backwards’ compatible if you are hooking up to an older computer with Thunderbolt 1-2.
