Honestly would likely need more information on the model you have. But I would bet the Apple TV remote will control your TV so you wouldn’t need the actual tv remote.

Chances are with the Apple TV remote you will be able to control the power and volume of your TV, but I don't think you'll be able to control the Apple TV with your TV remote, but I can't say for sure.
