Personally I use a combination of broadcast tv with a Tivo plus supplementing that with an appetv. There’s lots of good free streaming services like Peacock and Tubi and CW Seed, and obviously pay services too. 

If you want a cable tv replacement though, those are obscenely priced, not something I can afford.

We cancelled Comcast for the same reason and just use our AppleTV because you can download TV apps and use HULU, Netflix, Prime, even CBS or NBC apps (for a fee) instead. Much cheaper!
