Memory gives capacity to add more apps but also Apple has games available now. The games require memory in order to run. The more memory the more games you can store.

This is the case with Itunes movies, 4K movies, games, etc. The storage really revolves around movies and 4K movies that are really large files and can't be streamed (very easily).
