I have DirecTV as well. I am a huge TV lover, but I am considering relying on Apple TV to fulfill my needs. DirecTV is a huge waste of money comapred to this device. I utilize Netflix to watch my TV shows and movies. You could probably get a free week or month of Netflix if you go to their site. If you go to "Instant Viewing" in Netflix, it will tell you what movies and shows are available to you. There are literally thousands of things to watch. I honestly am considering cancelling my DirecTV service. That's how much I love my new Apple TV.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I wouldn't it cost a dollar to rent tv shows and 4 to rent a movie. But its worth it if you have Netflix!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You might be able to get rid of Direct TV. First you will need to do a little research to see if all the programming you watch now on Direct TV is available through iTunes and/or Netflix. These two are built in to Apple TV. If you include Hulu or ? you will need to see if you can get the shows you are interested in through those apps on a PC or Mac. Then, only if you can download those shows onto your computer, you can stream that downloaded content to Apple TV. Again, research those to see if they will have the programming you wish. remember, the content will not include local broadcast material such as local news, weather, sports. Only weekly entertainment options, some daily shows and network specials.
