Please try again later.I posted this question and just wanted to report back that my son did a little research and suggested that I buy an Insignia USB-3.0 compact memory card reader. Best Buy has it for $14.99 so I bought it. I haven't tried it yet because I also had to order a new camera and haven't had time to take pictures with it. But if it doesn't work (and I'm optimistic that it will) I will not be out all that much money. It's a tiny little thing - no cords - just about the size of a lipstick and there is a standard slot for the memory cards that my camera uses and also a micro-chip slot. You put your card in there and then insert the end into a USB port. For my 76-year old trauma adjusting to all things new in electronic equipment, this will be a piece of cake.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Apple does make a card reader that plugs directly into your Mac. You can also (like you said) load into iPad (or iPhone). If you have all of your devices synced to the iCloud then you’ll be able to access them from your Mac. Couple of weeks extra steps if you don’t mind doing this but if WiFi isn’t readily available then you’ll be waiting. Me personally, I sometimes like to see /edit photos on the spot and not having iCloud access (WiFi) would prevent me from doing this.
