• No! As long as your phone is close by or within a reasonable range it works with it

• It’s connected to Bluetooth in your phone just like a set of Bluetooth headphones or air pod pro’s so if you get more than 35 to 40 ft away from your phone it will disconnect from the Bluetooth. It works with Wi-Fi too, you only need the cellular plan on one that has GPS+Cellular.
