You need to have cellular service if you want to take calls and send texts without having your iPhone on you. You can still make calls and send texts even if you don’t have cellular but you just have to have your iPhone on you/nearby. Cellular service means you have to call your carrier and let them know you want to add the Apple Watch cellular service to your line (which is an extra $10 per month depending on the carrier)

If you choose this option you must have your phone nearby. If you choose the cellular route, you have to go to Metro PCS and get a SIM card and add a line to your plan that will enable you to fully use your watch like your cellular phone and your phone does not have to be near you. Your watch does hook up to WIFI. You can slide up on your watch face to turn it on and off from your watch. You have to hook up the WiFi in your Apple Watch app. I’m not sure if you mean a secure band as in watch band. If so, you have to make sure you are wearing it properly. (This got me too) the round shiny part does not fasten on top of the watch band, it’s supposed to be closest to your skin. The pointy part snaps into the hole and you tuck the loose end of the watch in the slit. This secures your watch band. Go on YouTube if those instructions were not clear and search how to fasten Apple Watch band. You’re not alone.
