“Can the Apple Watch stand alone with out having to have the phone near( Bluetooth). For example the Samsung gear has an internal sim that can be connect it by itself. Without the need of the phone. Does the Apple Watch have a similar feature???”

I don't think it can: you can use certain features on the Apple Watch without Bluetooth connecting it to your phone, but to receive texts and phone calls you must connect to Bluetooth

Please try again later.No I believe it doesn't because when ur phone is dead u can't accept calls but the clock still is available but u won't be receiving any calls or notifications. It works even if they're far apart but only at a certain range such as in the house. However if u left ur phone at home it will not receive any notifications.
