Absolutely. Even if you have the GPS version and your phone is nearby you can use it as a phone. My wife uses her watch all the time when she doesn’t know exactly where her phone is. Also she will answer her watch driving and everyone says it sounds like she is actually using her phone. Hopefully that helps.
