“As I already have the Google home app. will I need the paid Arlo app. to have the cameras working in my Google home app? Or only will have to pay a monthly fee if I want to have the history recorded of the cameras as it is done with the Nest?”

Yes you need to download free Arlo app to view camera. And yes you would need to pay for subscription after trial is complete in order to view / record images in cloud.
