Does this camera require a hub? null

No it does not, it can be used standalone.

No, you do not need a hub using the essential camera's. They will work independently using your wifi system.

If I wanted to use it with iOS ( HomeKit) I’d have to have Arlo’s hub or base station. It does work with Alexa and SmartThings - no problems ( certain lights will turn on).
