I believe that it stores the footage for two weeks at a time so you can download it any time you get the chance within that time frame. I have downloaded a few recordings and it's fantastic.

Video will save on your phone for viewing later. You can delete what you don't want to keep off of your phone. You can star favorites so you can see what to save for later. Ours is set to pick up motion, so all that is on there is video where there was motion.
