ask your internet provider. i have rcn and when i tried to use the modem it did not work. i tried other modems which also did not work with rcn's service. rcn told me that their service would only work with a modem that i can rent, not buy from them or anyone else. ask your provider which modem you can buy that will work with their service or switch to another internet provider. they may or may not give you a discount if you tell them that they will lose your business which is what i did and they lowered the price of my service.
