“I received this in the mail today and the box showed some text in the top right corner that states "Does not support digital voice service", so does that simply mean it doesn't do phone service or does that cover all VoIP things like discord, skype, etc?”

This device does not provide support for the VOIP or telephony services but you can still use third party services that just require an active internet connection.
