It would make your internet faster if your old gateway was outdated or obsolete which would have caused your internet to not be as fast as the provider was giving you. It would never give you faster speeds than your signed tier. I installed it to replace and older gateway because of coverage issues and I discovered after setting it up that I was missing on speed big time. My older equipment was not handling the new speeds properly, with this one I got the full Mbps I was updated to by my provider.
