“I live in a rural area where my Verizon cell service is sketchy at best. I DO NOT have any capability of downloading a phone app for setup without WiFi access. Am I reading correctly that there is no way to set these up with a wired Ethernet connection?”

• My unit needs a cable or fios line that connects to the ARRIS mesh network with a ethernet cable which was a cheap flat cable from ARRIS but still works for the first router. You can setup with your internet provider and then you can buy a separate modem.
