Does this modem work with Mediacom? null

I believe so, but only Mediacom can tell you this. Most providers have a page that goes through what works with their system and you should really stick to those recommendations so that you have a finger to point if there are problems.

Yes. If you are like me Mediacom can only get 100mbps at my address so it wasn't worth the cost for the 1GB service plan or the modem. I switched plans kept the modem hoping they may improve service.
