Is the ram expandable? null

Kind of. It only have the one slot so you will have to take out the old ram and add new. So if you buy and 8GB card it won't double with the 8 already inside. I believe I read it can go up to 16 GB though.

If you look at the Asus website where this particular model is listed, you'll find that it has a DIMM socket for expanding RAM, with the ability to do so up to 16 gig.

The Asus - 15.6 Laptop - Intel Core i7 (model: X550JXDB71)can be expanded to a max of 16GB of DDR3 RAM.
