Yes there are differences. One big one is that Home edition is NOT able to join a domain. There are other differences and they're enumerated on the microsoft web site.

It does not give you any performance gain or any other benefits. The one thing that is important though is the windows home that is on your laptop also contains all your program files the Asus files in this case so if you reinstall Windows you will lose all the Asus programs. I am guessing you are thinking about cloning and upgrading your m. 2 solid state drive. If that's the case do not reinstall Windows as you will lose all your programs and mess up your drivers instead and just buy on Amazon an m. 2 enclosure. Then coordinate using macrium reflect free which allows you to bring down all your partitions including restore or Samsung data migration but that can only be done if you use a Samsung m. 2 SSD . Hope this helps
