“Two RAM slots? If this machine has two RAM slots, which it must, then it should be upgrade-able to 16 Mb, not the 12 meg stated in the "Specifications". So why's it say 12 max?”

No, it has one slot. The 4GB on that lower model is psrt of the Motherboard, you cant remove it. So its 12GB In the lower end model and 16gb in my model. q55ln. Currently running 16GB 8x2
