“another question...on charging. I charged it fully and have not unplugged it...but it says ( 98% plugged in, not charging ) It has been at 98 a long time....does it simply not charge any further if staying plugged??”

This is a setting somewhere buried in the BIOS. In order to preserve the longevity of the battery if its above a certain percentage it does not charge. You'll need to look at various settings to change that but I would leave it alone. If you run the battery below 90% and then plug it in, it will recharge to 100%.
