- Answer There is a back light keyboard. I was told by the salesperson that this is not available in the ssd version.

QuestionI just purchased this one and so far...the positives outweigh the negative. One big question I have is about "windows defender". Is this a virus protection?? Don't seem to see anything else that looks like a protection on this machine....which is rare.

- Answer Yes, that is a free forever virus protector and is all you need. The computer came with McAfee which is a virus itself, so I highly recommend removing McAfee if it allows you to (didn't allow me to remove it, proving it's a virus).

- Answer Those programs do not come with the laptop they are sold separately however BB does give you $20 when you buy office with a new laptop. Honestly, if you have a .edu email address, your school might give it to students for free.

- Answer Had the back off the computer today - there is an m.2 slot, but we had no m.2 to test it with. Wish I had known before I bought the regular SSD.

- Answer Actually, there are a number of alternatives. One would be Microsoft Word Online, which only requires a Microsoft account and is free. When used with OneDrive on your computer, it works very well (but only works with WiFi.) The other free alternative to Word is Libre Office. Libre is free office software that does most of the functions of word, and allows you to natively save documents in .docx (the same format as word) meaning that everything you make in Libre can be 100% compatible with Word. Hope that helps!

- Answer Best Buy has a 15 day return policy. Just be sure that there is no damage and all accessories that came with it are still present. It was just released at the beginning of this month (June 2016)

- Answer Yes. It comes with a one year manufacturer's warranty. That typically covers faulty hardware and PC components. Unless you drop it and smash it; that may not be protected by the manufacturer, but usually is by the Geek Squad.

- Answer Not worth the effort- you are not likely to see the change you are looking for- 12 RAM is great for this version... In the past I used to upgrade RAM all the time- research this... This version of PC is a combined unit you will have to pop the keyboard and could cause damage. I have accomplished this with a previous older ASUS- possible but, you need a tine screwdriver for the 10 screws. Good luck.

QuestionDoes anyone know how I can remove the top cover to secure the hinges? The cover is separating from the lcd screen at the hinge. I had the hinges replaced once already and I'm hoping they can just be tightened and the cover reset.

QuestionThe laptop keeps making electronic beeping noises. If I wear headphones, the sound comes through the headphones. Does anyone why this keeps happening? The beeps come at random times, sometimes once in an hour sometimes 100. Help if you know a solution.

- Answer Not the technical answer you're looking for, but... It fits all of the off-the-shelf cans I have at home, includinding two over-the-ear Sonys, a Sennheiser over-the-ear, Panasonic ear buds, and Apple earbuds. Unless you're dealing with professional equipment, I don't think you'll encounter any problems.
