Actually, there are a number of alternatives. One would be Microsoft Word Online, which only requires a Microsoft account and is free. When used with OneDrive on your computer, it works very well (but only works with WiFi.) The other free alternative to Word is Libre Office. Libre is free office software that does most of the functions of word, and allows you to natively save documents in .docx (the same format as word) meaning that everything you make in Libre can be 100% compatible with Word. Hope that helps!

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Either buy it in the store and follow the instructions on the back or buy it on our website, or Microsoft and download it. At some point you'll have to use/create a Microsoft account AND put in the product key (If bought in store) It's not hard.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You cannot download software to these devices without some serious hacking, and it isn't worth it. But, you can use Google Docs, which is compatible with MS Word, and there is an advantage to this - the paper is saved to the Cloud. There is not risk of loss if your computer or flash drive crashes (which I had happen).
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.
