Yes it can an M.2 SSD I used a 128GB Intel 600p NVMe M.2 SSD along with the 2TB HDD that came with it. You will need a 2mm x 3mm screw to screw on the board, more than likely you won't find this in your local hardware store and will need to order online.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes it can have a ssd in this model along side the 2 TB drive that comes with it. You have to purchase a msata ssd drive though not a standard ssd. The one that i purchased for mines is a M.2 samsung 950 Pro 250GB ssd.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Bought this laptop 2 months ago and inquired with ASUS directly. Their tech told me 100% that this laptop DOES NOT support an additional m.2 SSD HDD even though there are conflicting reports. I took the bottom panel off and lo-and-behold, there's a slot for an m.2. I picked up a cheap 256gb plextor last week on Amazon and installed it today. While I can get windows to recognize it, I cannot seem to get the bios to see it. I'd obviously like to install the OS on the SSD, but I'm having difficulty. Will update when/ if I am successful. If anyone else has been able to do this, any info would be appreciated.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I bought the WD Blue 250GB SSD m.2 2280. Works perfectly for my OS/boot drive, and I use the installed factory drive as extra storage. It now takes about 15 seconds to boot from power on. :-) I can't seem to find any documentation from ASUS for this expansion. Nothing is mentioned in the users manual. I wouldn't have even known about it if it weren't for the Best Buy salesman. I went for the SATA 3 drive because reports are showing no noticeable speed difference with a NVME drive for us normal users, so I saved a few $$. The WD Acronis software can be downloaded for free and clones your boot drive very simply. I noticed in the CMOS settings that the 2TB Seagate factory drive is sitting by default as Drive 1 and when SSD is installed, it shows up at drive 0, so you don't even have to change the boot settings. Not a big deal to change, but I had to do nothing in these settings. Very nice laptop.
