I purchased my laptop in August 2016. I bought it based on the specs even though the hard drive is only a sluggish 5400rpm. It's been a love / hate relationship until a week ago when I installed a Crucial M.2 SSD drive and replaced the horrible hard drive with a Samsung SSD drive. Now I absolutely LOVE my Asus. Why in the heck the manufacturer would stick the worst possible hard drive in an otherwise flawless machine is beyond me. Before SSD, I would wait for two minutes while the disk use was at 100% as the system would boot up, run everything in task scheduler, run the boot sector virus scan and load drivers. Once this was complete, I could start using the laptop. It was frustrating enough that I regretted ever buying the laptop.
After enough agony, I finally decided to do what I should have done from the very beginning. After doing some research, I settled on the M.2 SSD drive from Crucial and the Samsung SSD for the main replacement. Using a T4 bit, I removed the screws from the bottom cover and gained access to the internals. I installed the M.2 SSD and went through the steps to format the drive and clone my windows installation to the new drive. Once that was complete, I removed the abominable mechanical hard drive and installed the main SSD drive.
Now I get pure joy when I press the power button to boot up. The login screen appears in 6 seconds. The OS is completely loaded and system resource monitor shows the hard drive at 13% in another 9 seconds after I enter my password. Now I absolutely love my Asus.
The moral of this story is that unless you’re prepared to replace the poor excuse of a hard drive with an SSD of any size, you are going to be disappointed with this machine. I certainly was. But having been in IT for nearly 30 years, I had the knowledge and experience to perform the upgrade.
Bottom line: The machine is absolutely beautiful and stunning in appearance and performance, once you get rid of the anchor and chain slowing it down.

This laptop has treated me very well in the year that I have owned it. It's specs are nice for the CAD work that I do, and has never let me down.
Given this laptop only has a 5200 RPM hard drive (which is why people are unhappy with its speeds) boot times were rediculous. I have taken the liberty to install an m.2 250gb ssd in the avalible slot in this computer. After moving the operating system over to the ssd, this laopt now preforms very well on boot times, and is still much cheaper than its counterpart with the ssd pre-installed.
Some issues that I have with this laptop is that my trackpad seems to be loose as it irregularly clicks. This started happening about 2 months after purchase. Also the hinges seem to be inside of these gunmetal cover. This metal cover has become loose causing a anoying rattling sound when carrying. The actual hing that holds the screen has not been affected, just the shroud of the hinge.
All in all for the features that this laptop has, I feel as it is a great laptop for anyone with a heavy CAD load, or wants to play some causual games. If you are not looking to do either of these activities, then you should not be looking at a laptop with a dedicated graphics card to save money.

I am happy overall with everything except the weight.. Its a little on the heavy side but the 2Tb drive works out well and the thin borders on the screen give an impression of a much larger screen .. Graphics are much better than I expected, after all drivers were updated the response of the touch screen and quality of the display was actually surprising as to the quality.. HDMI functioned with out issue , tons of supported display settings so you can dial in a large monitor or TV. Wifi card and Bluetooth work well and the battery life is about 4hrs with everything on high settings.. Very thin and fits nicely into a messenger style bag.. I Bought a bamboo stylus separately and it seems to work well with the touch screen..

I had to return an HP due to it BSOD'ing & was looking at this or a Samsung. Decided on this since it was in stock.
The laptop is pretty fast, an SSD would make it faster (more on this later) but it outperforms the HP I exchanged for this laptop. This comes with 12GB of RAM expandable to 16gb and has a 940mx GPU.
After taking the bottom panel off to look for the RAM slot (didn't see it so more digging later) I noticed this laptop has a SSD slot to throw an SSD in the system as well as its 2TB slowwwww 5400 RPM HDD. So my next purchase will be a SSD.
For anyone wanting to take the bottom off this laptop it takes a T5 bit. Pick up the Best Buy precision kit they sell or if they are sold out like the store here was go get are precision kit from a hardware store but make sure it includes a T5.
If you believe the laptop is slow switch it from Balanced mode to Performance mode in the advanced power options in Windows 10. Like I said the HDD is the bottle neck not the other components.

I've only owned this for 2 weeks great laptop but lacked in the hard drive department which slowed the computer to a crawl when starting at least minute and a half and shut down around 30 seconds but let me tell you after upgrading to a M.2 Samsung Evo for my main boot up drive this laptop now boots up in around 12 seconds and shuts down in 5 seconds. Now I have a 2tb storage with that came in the laptop with a additional M.2 SSD that I added in the spare slot, you can reconfigure the boot up sequence for the drives in the bios by holding the escape key just after powering up, just to add it is a T4 screwdriver to open the back cover which after 2 hrs running around found at Walmart.
The 12gb of DDR4 ram is more than enough to multi-task, l've tried to max it out but only used 5 to 6gb with the processor between 15- 30 percent.
I haven't tried any games on it yet so I can't tell how the video card performs.
Battery life is around 6 hrs Web surfing, installing programs and a little You Tube.
Overall if I could give more than 5 stars would surely do.
Best bang for the buck, no regrets.

First let me say I'm a little biased when it comes to ASUS products. I think they're the best choice for your money. This laptop is no different, it has a very fast processer, RAM and perfect GPU for the price. The tablet mode rocks, especially since I'm on deployment and I can hang it under the sleeping bunk above me; making my own personal entertainment center. Only problem I've had so far is the touch pad. It's sensitivity is a little jacked up and the pad has multiple weird settings for copying or other weird stuff. Luckily you can change the settings and make it a basic scroll and click style, but the sensitivity is always all over the place no matter how you change it. This hasn't been too much of a problem for me since it's in tablet mode alot and it has a touch sensative screen. Hope this helps!

I had purchased this computer for at home work. Considering college is finished and I don't really use the computer to type up 11-12 page papers anymore, essentially the computer would be used for bill paying, online searching, some illustration work, and possibly gameplay. So far, the computer is able to withstand that and more. I have installed several games on there and it seems to run smoothly with the occasional lag time. I also tend to run music in the background through Spotify which doesn't seem to interfere with anything.
Aside from some loading times, I have not had any other issues with the computer. It seems to hold up well and refreshes quickly. I have not had the chance to flip the screen back to utilize the tablet capabilities. However, I do at times touch the screen to scroll and that seems to work perfectly. The graphics capabilities are very nice for todays standards on a laptop. Overall, this is a quality laptop for the price. I would recommend this to anyone. I had an ASUS computer before this that lasted me 7-8 years before slowing down so I do tend to lean toward buying this brand more than others.

I was looking for a laptop with good features like, i7 processor, at least 12gb of memory RAM, touch screen and a dedicated video card at the better price, and I found it. I'm lucky.
I bought it and it works excellent, I never have had to restart it and it runs quickly, it never freeze and responds quick at all my commands.
The screen has a beautiful bright and contrast, the touch is precise.
It also has an excellent audio and the materials are made with excellent quality.
I do recommend this product.
Pros: excellent product and quality, great features.
Cons: does not include LAN connector; you need to buy USB 3.0 hub if you want to use LAN, external DVD drive, wireless mouse and external HDD, all ports are in use and they are not enough. Although it depends user's needs.

This laptop is fast enough to handle all my photo editing work, allows me to position it into a tabletop orientation for viewing videos in my downtime, and is portable and versatile enough to go anywhere. The bass that came with it was a awesome bonus and sounds fantastic.

I upgraded my laptop after mine started running slowly, shutting off randomly and doing other strange things. I decided to spend a little more than last time and get a faster processor and more memory. It has the same i7 that my son's Alienware computer has but 1/2 the price! This laptop also converts to a tablet. I love the speed and the size - as I age the bigger screen is so much better for me to see. Weight was an issue for me too as I have arthritis and the heavier computers and difficult to pick up. This one is slightly heavier than my old one - I really don't notice the difference.

I have had my laptop for about 4 months and over all I really like it. One drawback is that there is no DVD player. Also, I have never see a laptop that is so slick on the outside. It looks very nice, but it is very very slick to hold on to. You have to really be careful when you pick it up or lay it on anything with a any kind of slope. It will slip out of your hands or slide off. Mine did slide off the seat of the couch, luckily landing on a pillow but it did pop one side of the screen boarder open. It snapped back into place and doesn't seem to have any damage.
I really like the touch screen and how the monitor swivels all the way around. The key board has a good feel and the track pad works well.

Overall this is a good laptop. It's easy to use, the 2-in-1 features seem to work well, the hinges seem sturdy, the touch screen is responsive. The graphics card isn't the best of course (940), and has trouble running a 3440x1440 external monitor, but an external 1920x1080 is just fine. My biggest complaint is when starting up the computer, the disk usage is at 100% for around 10-15 minutes, making the computer basically unusable for that time. It would greatly benefit from a faster HDD or an SSD, but I believe the main problem is Windows 10, they should really limit the amount of disk usage each program can utilize at a time. Other than that, it's a great laptop.

For the price, it should be faster, but overall it's a good value when on sale. Works well, except it's a little slow losing things. Touch screen, graphics, ease of use are all great.
