“I have this laptop and Im using the USB c out to display port on a asus 1080p 144hz 1ms monitor the resolution and color looks very bad compared to an hdmi cable which looks stunning but is capped at 60hz. Any suggestions?”

If you are not getting a good resolution, please make sure the video cable adapter being used is the right specification and is connected to the USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type C port.
